Analilia Mejia Wins Democratic Nomination for NJ-11 Special Election

Mejia declares victory surrounded by supporters in Montclair: “Today, we proved something powerful.”

GLEN RIDGE, NJ — Earlier today, former Representative Tom Malinowski conceded the Democratic primary race for New Jersey's 11th Congressional District to organizer and labor leader Analilia Mejia following the counting of thousands of outstanding provisional and vote-by-mail ballots.

Analilia Mejia held a press conference outside her campaign office in Montclair, where she was joined by supporters, union leaders, and advocates from across the district who gathered to celebrate the victory.

“Today, we proved something powerful: The most important force in politics isn't money. It's the will of the people,” said Analilia Mejia to a crowd of supporters who powered her grassroots campaign. “We organized. We knocked on doors. We talked to our neighbors. And that's how we won.”

"Now our attention must turn to uniting as Democrats against MAGA extremists who are trying to destroy our democracy and undermine working people,” said Analilia Mejia. “We are all united in fighting back and ensuring working people and our democracy are at the forefront of our fight. Today is proof that when we organize together, there is nothing we can't do."
